Friar Lawrence

Shinto Priest

A character inclined towards a relationship between Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is a Shinto priest who hopes that the established marriage between Romeo and Juliet will result in peace for their warring families and the Ako Domain. He devises numerous plans to protect the lovers only to have them be foiled, blaming himself for the failure of the plans and the ill-fated consequences of the play.

Prince Escalus

Son of shogun

As the son of the shogun, the main authorative figure the prefacture of Ako, Prince Escales is an authoritative figure who is devoted to maintaining peace in the Ako Domain, and is intent on removing any threat to the established society.

Mercutio

Kinsmen of Prince and Paris

Mercutio, a samurai for the shogun, and good friend of Romeo, is a character with a mysterious persona who is often unpredictable, unstable, but strangely likeable. He is an imaginative character, and is extremely witty and talented in speech, making puns, ironic comments and sexual innuendos. His strong tie with his companion Romeo is displayed throughout the play, with the pair's strong bond demonstrated as Romeo avenges Mercutio's demise.

Paris

Juliet's suitor, kinsmen of Prince

Paris is a prominent samurai fighter, who is famed for his skills, wealth, and appearence. He is an extremely desired suitor, and he has been arranged to  to marry with Juliet. His attractive traits make him an extremely appropriate suitor in Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet’s eyes, but he fails to charm Juliet.
